Greetings Citizens,

"To whom much is given, much will be required.” I am both honored and humbled to become the 15th Police Chief of this great city, on September 11, 2019. I bring to the table a wealth of knowledge and experience, but most importantly, a common-sense approach to problem-solving.

I am a native of High Springs and was educated in the Alachua County Public School system. Subsequently, I earned an associate's and bachelor’s degree from Vincennes University in Homeland Security and a master’s degree from Saint Leo University in Criminal Justice. I am also a graduate of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) National Command Course (NCC) at Quantico, Virginia, Saint Leo University Command Management Course, and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement Chief Executive Seminar.

I am ecstatic at the opportunity to lead a collection of dedicated staff; that is focused on strong community partnerships, fair and impartial interaction, and promoting public safety. This city is one of the safest communities around, only because of the support of the citizenry and the dedication of the men and women of this department.

I look forward to contributing to the vibrancy of this community, and I look forward to working with everyone for a better and brighter High Springs.

As you navigate through the High Springs Police Department’s website, I hope you find this site useful and informative, as it provides information about our organization, functions, and the various services we provide.

Thank you for your suggestive comments, and we invite you to become involved in our city and agency’s success.

J. Antoine Sheppard, Chief of Police
