Fire Chief - The City of High Springs, Florida. Professional and administrative Fire Chief Position. Directs and manages all firefighting, fire prevention, and fire service activities of the City of High Springs. The Fire Chief is responsible, through study and consultation with City officials, for developing recommendations for the protection of life and property in the City. Administrative duties include planning, directing, and controlling departmental  activities including recruitment of personnel, purchase of equipment, control of expenditures, preparation of budget estimates, and the assignment of personnel and equipment. The Fire Chief consults with the City Manager on problems of policy and planning but works independently in supervising technical operations.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • AA/AS in Fire Administration, public administration, or a related field.
  • Florida Firefighter II
  • Paramedic
  • Driver/Operator
  • Fire Officer I and II
  • Fire Inspector I and II
  • Fire Instructor I
  • or obtain a Certificate of Compliance as a State of Florida Firefighter or certification issued by the State of Florida to an administrative and command head of a fire/ rescue/ emergency services organization within twelve (12) months of appointment in accordance with Florida Department of State, Florida Administrative Code and Florida Administrative Register Rule 69A-37.054, and obtain Fire Inspector I & II within twelve (12) months.
  • Extensive progressive experience in fire administration, firefighting, and fire inspections including three consecutive years as command officer in charge of a department, division, or shift as a Lieutenant or higher.

SALARY

$80,000.00-$95,000.00 plus benefits.
