About Sue Weller

Sue is a native Floridian and grew up in Hialeah, Florida. Upon graduation from the University of Florida in
1978 she went to work for the City of Miami in the employee and labor relations arena. In 1990 she was
promoted to Labor Relations Officer reporting directly to the City Manager. Her responsibilities included
negotiating and administering collective bargaining agreements; costing out multi-million dollar proposals;
providing consultation and direction on employee discipline, grievances and settlements; and interpreting city-
wide policies and procedures. For five months, prior to her retirement in 2002, she also served as the Director
of Risk Management and Group Insurance which she handled along with her labor relations responsibilities.
During her professional career she served on the City of Miami General Employees Pension Board and served
as the City’s liaison to the City of Miami Police and Fire Pension Board. Sue also served as President of both
the National and Florida Public Employer Labor Relations Associations: organizations that assist and train
management personnel in the field of public sector collective bargaining. After her retirement she was hired as
the Executive Director for the Florida Public Employer Labor Relations Association.
In 2004 Sue and her husband, Tom, moved to High Springs and assisted in the establishment of The Kiwanis
Club of Santa Fe, whose primary focus is on very young children. At that time she also became involved with
various City boards and committees; serving on the Tree Board, the Mayor’s Economic Development Task
Force, the Historic Preservation Task Force, and the Planning Board.
Sue is an avid gardener and orchid enthusiast.
She and her husband like to travel and enjoy outdoor
